Results: Tree test

Updated over a week ago

After participants complete your tree test, you'll see results showing how successfully they navigated your structure to find the correct destination. This data helps you identify which paths work well and where participants struggle with your information architecture.

Success Metrics

When you've set success destinations, you'll see three key metrics showing how participants performed:

  • Direct success: Participants who reached a success destination taking the most direct path without backtracking or exploring wrong paths

  • Indirect success: Participants who eventually reached a success destination but took a longer route, exploring other paths first

  • Failure: Participants who didn't reach any success destination

  • Average duration: Average time participants took to complete the task

Path analysis

Path analysis shows the different routes participants took through your tree structure, helping you understand navigation patterns and identify common user journeys.

Switch between the tabs to view paths by outcome:

  • Direct success: Shows the most efficient routes participants took to reach success destinations

  • Indirect success: Reveals paths where participants backtracked or explored multiple branches before finding the correct destination

  • Failure: Displays paths that led participants away from success destinations

Each path displays the complete navigation route from the ‘Home’ menu to the destination, showing every node participants clicked through.

Individual responses

This is where you will find the results for each individual participant.

  • Outcome: If the participant reached the success destination

  • Destination: The final node selection the participant made in the path

  • Duration: How long it took the participant to complete the task

  • Completion date: The date and time the participant completed the study

Click on any individual response in the table to view the recording. The recording will also include the camera and microphone recording if it was enabled in the build settings.
