What do participants have to agree to before being recorded?

It's important to cover yourself as a business when doing any kind of recording. Here are some important tips.

Updated over a week ago

When it comes participants and recording them, they do of course need to give permission to do so. However, the way they do this can be in a variety of ways and usually depends on the legal requirements of you and your company for your own protection.

All our participants agree to our Privacy policy, which does inform them of being recorded. However we always recommend that you follow advice from your legal department beyond this. Below are a couple of common steps to take.

  1. Add a screener question that informs them they will be recorded if selected. This ensures that you know who is comfortable with it as part of your selection process.

  2. Send an agreement for them to sign before the scheduled session. This ensures that you cover yourself and have written permission before the day.

If you are ever unsure of what to do here, please contact Askable as well as your legal counsel.
