The difference between Automated and Hand Picked (Surveys and Tasks)
The difference between Automated and Hand Picked (Surveys and Tasks)

When setting up an Online Task or Survey, you can either automate the invite process or hand pick who you invite. So which is for you?

Updated over a week ago

Online Tasks and Surveys have the option to automate the invite process or Hand Pick yourself. Depending on what you need as a result will change which you should choose.

Why would I choose Automated?

Speed and ease. Plain and simple.

If you are not fussed about the mix of demographics but more just wanting to make sure they are a 100% fit and that's it, choose this.

It means that once someone completes your screeners, if they are 100% eligible, they will be taken to the task straight away to complete. This makes it an extremely hands off process for you. The only thing you then need to do is to ensure you check their responses within 24 hours of their submission, to let us know if there are any issues. Check out this article for more details .

So, why would I choose Hand Picked?

Though hand picking is a bit more involved, it gives you greater control.

If it is important to have a split of certain people such as personas, age, gender, anything - then you will need to hand pick them and invite them to the task.

PRO TIP: If the mix you are needing is simple enough, such as gender or a single screener question difference, then you can always setup 2 bookings and automate them both. This means not having to hand pick. This should only be done for 'simple' splits though. If you need advice on this, reach out!
