You can try Askable Sessions without setting up a study by starting a test call at sessions.askable.com.
Note: this is an unsupported, experimental way to use Askable Sessions, intended for testing what the call experience is like. For real research sessions, set up a study as normal.
Start a test call as the facilitator
Log in with your Askable client account at sessions.askable.com.
Click New call.
Use the (i) icon in the bottom right of the call to find the join links for observers and participants.
Send those links directly to whoever you're testing with.
If you record the session, save the room URL. You'll need it later to retrieve the recording. The format is
https://sessions.askable.com/rooms/[RoomID].
Join as an observer
Open the observer link in a private or incognito tab. This avoids cache issues if you also have a client account. The link format is
https://sessions.askable.com/[RoomID].Enter a name and click join, then wait in the lobby.
Once the facilitator lets you in, your mic and camera are forced off. You can leave notes for the facilitator, and there's no limit on observer numbers.
Join as a participant
You need to be logged in to a participant account. The participant link won't work without one.
Open the participant link from the facilitator. The format is
https://my.askable.com/askable-sessions/[RoomID].Once the facilitator accepts you into the session, you can message the facilitator from inside the call.
Retrieve a test recording
Message us on live chat with the room URL you saved for each session.
We'll generate a shortlink to the recording for you.
