Build: Stack rank

Updated today

The Stack Rank block lets you understand participant priorities by asking them to drag and drop items into their preferred order. This is useful when you want to know not just what people prefer, but how they weigh options relative to each other.

Setting up your stack rank

Items to rank

Type each item you want participants to rank in the input fields. Click "+ Add item" for additional options, or use "+ Bulk add" to add multiple items at once. Each item should be clear and concise so participants can easily compare them.

Randomise order

Toggle this on to present items in a random order for each participant. This helps reduce potential bias from the default ordering of items.

Image

Toggle this on to display an image alongside your question. This can be useful when you want to provide visual context for the items being ranked.

Writing stack rank questions

When writing your question, be specific about what you want participants to rank by. For example, "Rank these features by how important they are to your daily workflow" works well because it gives a clear ranking criterion. Avoid vague prompts like "Rank these items" without specifying the basis for comparison.

Adding Context

The "Additional info" field is your chance to provide helpful context. Think of it as the extra information participants might need to fully understand what you're asking. You might include definitions of unfamiliar items or clarify the ranking criteria here.
