Live website testing in AI Moderated studies allows you to observe how participants interact with a live website while the AI moderator guides them through task instructions and asks follow-up questions in real-time.
Desktop Only: Studies with Live website tests require participants to use a desktop device. Recruit settings will be restricted to Desktop only. Mobile support coming soon.
Setting up a live website test
1. In your AI Moderated study builder, add a Live website test block
β
2. Enter the website URL you want participants to start the test from
3. Write clear task instructions describing what you want participants to do
β
4. Optionally add additional research goals to help the AI moderator ask relevant follow-up questions after the participant completes the task
β
5. Preview your study to ensure the task is setup correctly and the moderator can guide participants through your instructions. You can start the participant preview directly from a specific block rather than conducting the full interview via the block more menu button.

How it works for participants
When you add a live website test to your AI Moderated study:
The AI moderator introduces the task, explaining what the participant needs to accomplish
Opens the task starting URL in a new browser tab and starts capturing the participants screen
Guides the participant through the task and prompts the participant to talk through their experience and explain their thoughts
Captures insights by asking relevant follow-up questions as they navigate and complete the task
Best practices
Write specific task instructions: Give participants a clear goal
Use accessible websites: Ensure the URL is publicly accessible and doesn't require login credentials
Test your URL first: Verify the website loads correctly before launching your study
Keep tasks focused: One clear objective per website test works best
Preview your task: Test your study setup via the participant preview, you can start the preview from a specific block via the more menu.
