How do Timezones work on Askable?
How do Timezones work on Askable?

πŸ€” What Timezone is my Study set to?

When setting up a Study to run moderated sessions with participants, the Timezone of the sessions you place in your Calendar is based on your local timezone, aka, where you're at! (Just like Google Calendar)

In other words, if you set up your sessions in New York, your colleague in London who views your Study will have a different Calendar View.

πŸ“Œ Note: If you have a VPN on, this will naturally affect the Timezone that shows in your Calendar on Askable

🏘️ Setting up Sessions for your Team Members

If you're working with a global team of other facilitators/researchers on the same study, we recommend setting out the bulk of your Draft Study and leaving the Calendar section for each facilitator to put in their respective sessions. Don't forget to Save & Exit!

If you choose to set up all sessions on behalf of your team who are overseas, please use a Time Converter to support you. Bear in mind the Calendar is still showing in YOUR local timezone.

πŸ• What timezone do participants see?

Similarly, participants will always see session times in their local timezone. The system automatically converts what participants see based on the sessions you have set in the Calendar.

Example: If your timezone is Sydney (AEDT) and you have confirmed a session for 10am. A participant living in Brisbane (AEST) will see it as 9am. A participant from Perth who is also booked will be joining the session at 7am (Perth Time)

🀨 Why is it showing a different time in my Chat history?

If you are messaging a participant from a different timezone, you may see a session time displayed in the Messages sent to the participant that isn't what you booked. That is because you are viewing a snapshot of what the participant sees.

PRO TIP: Always base it on what you see in your Calendar or Participant list.
