You don't pay participants directly. The incentive is built into your study's credit cost, and Askable calculates the amount, collects it as part of your credits, and pays every participant after they complete your study.
How Askable sets the incentive amount
The amount is calculated automatically from your study setup, including:
Session or task duration
How specific or hard to reach your audience is
Study type and the effort involved
Location, local currency and purchasing power
Travel time, for in person sessions
What has historically worked for similar studies
How participants get paid
Once a participant completes your study and is marked complete, they choose their payout method, typically a gift card or PayPal. You don't need to do anything.
What is the incentive amount for my study?
The per-participant amount isn't easily visible in the app. If you need it, for example for an ethics application or to answer a participant's question, message us on live chat with your study link and we'll confirm it. Participants see the incentive amount in their own app when they apply.
Can I set my own incentive?
Yes, with our help. A higher or custom incentive can speed up recruitment for competitive or niche audiences. Custom incentives are set by our team in the backend, so:
Build and submit your study as normal.
While it's in review, message us on live chat with your study link and the incentive you have in mind.
We'll convert it into a credit value and apply it before your study goes live.
You can also ask any time before submitting, but during review is the smoothest point because nothing is live yet.
