Permissions and troubleshooting
If you're having trouble with screen sharing on Askable, this article will guide you through enabling permissions, starting a screen share, and troubleshooting common issues to ensure a smooth experience.

Ensure you're "Camera" and "Microphone" permissions are enabled. You can do this in app at "Profile" -> "Permissions" or in your device settings.
How to screen share
After you have entered the call, press the
icon at the bottom of the page
When prompted with a "Screen Broadcast" dialog, select "Askable" from the list to start screen sharing
Researcher cannot see screen share
If the researcher cannot see your screen share, try the following:
Make sure you select "Askable" from the list of apps in the "Screen Broadcast" dialog
Make sure you have a good internet connection
If you're exiting the Askable app, do not dismiss the "Picture in Picture" after exiting the Askable app. This can be docked to the side of your screen if it is in the way.
Researcher cannot see screen share after exiting Askable app
If the researcher cannot see your screen share after exiting the Askable app, try the following:
Make sure you have not dismissed the "Picture in Picture" after exiting the Askable app. This can be docked to the side of your screen if it is in the way.
Make sure you have a good internet connection
Check you're on the latest iOS version
Check you're on the latest Askable version

You will be prompted with a system dialog
If there is an option to pick between "Share one app" or "Share entire screen", pick "Share entire screen" if you're unsure what app you need to share or need to share multiple apps.
If not, click "Start now"
Microphone not working while screen sharing
Double check your "Notifications" permission are enabled, and there is a notification that says "Askable is running" after joining the call.
Researcher cannot see screen share after exiting Askable app
If the researcher cannot see your screen share after exiting the Askable app, try the following:
Double check you have selected "Share entire screen" in the screen share dialog
Ensure you have enabled "Notifications" permission
Do not dismiss the "Picture in Picture" after exiting the Askable app. This can be docked to the side of your screen if it is in the way.
Screen share freezes for researcher after ~2-3 minutes
If the researcher indicates they can no longer see your screen share or hear you, try the following:
Ensure you have enabled "Notifications" permission
Do not dismiss the "Picture in Picture" after exiting the Askable app. This can be docked to the side of your screen if it is in the way.
Cannot turn screen share on
If you cannot toggle the screen share button, or it causes an error. Please ensure:
You are not using a company device
You do not have a company device policy that is blocking screen sharing on your device
You have enabled and "Picture-in-Picture" in System Settings for Askable
