Why should I allow notifications from Askable?

Allowing notifications enables us to communicate:

  1. Any new research opportunities that match your profile

  2. Updates to any opportunities you have applied for eg. invites, cancelations

  3. Reminders for opportunities you are invited or scheduled for

  4. Messages you receive from the researcher or facilitator of any opportunities

Why should I allow Askable to access my camera and mic?

When participating in moderated interviews via the Askable mobile app, you'll be required to join with your camera and microphone enabled. This allows the research or facilitator to see and hear you during the call.

Why can't I can't login to the app?

Askable runs several anti-spam checks before logging you in. If you're having difficulty logging in, check the below steps:

  1. Make sure you are using the same email you use when logging in via my.askable.com

  2. Check if you have VPN on that you may be unaware of

    1. For most devices, you will be able to head into your Phone Settings and search for "VPN"

  3. Turn off Private Relay (For Apple Users)

    1. Check this website out - Turn iCloud Private Relay off

  4. Try a different device or browser

    1. If the Askable site works for you on a different device or browser, it is likely that you have VPN or AdBlockers on your original device/browser. With this, please follow the above steps

How should I prepare for a video call?

To allow the best experience for both yourself and the researcher:

  1. Find a quiet place to take your call, with minimal background noise

  2. Make sure you have a good internet connection

  3. If you are using bluetooth headphones, make sure they are connected prior to your call

My camera or microphone isn't working

Technical issues happen to the best of us, here's a few tips to resolve them on your session:

  1. Make sure you aren't connected to any Bluetooth devices you might not be aware of? Turn off bluetooth to be sure.

  2. Make sure you have allowed the Askable app access to your microphone and camera within your mobile phones local device settings

  3. Check to make sure you camera or microphone are working when recording a video using your camera. If not, you might have a local device issue

Can I apply to opportunities via the mobile app?

Not currently. At the moment you can only see video call opportunities that you have scheduled via the mobile app. To see more opportunities available, go to my.askable.com

Do calls get recorded when I join via the mobile app?

You will be notified prior to your call if it will be recorded. More often than not the researcher will choose to record your call. This allows your insights to be used as effectively as possible.

If I'm sharing my screen during a call, what will be recorded?

Everything on your screen, including notifications, will be recorded. To prevent unexpected notifications, enable Do Not Disturb mode:
