Everything you need to know about using the Askable app.
Why should I allow notifications?
Notifications let us tell you about:
New research opportunities that match your profile.
Updates to opportunities you've applied for (invites, cancellations).
Reminders for opportunities you're invited or scheduled for.
Messages from the researcher or facilitator.
You can change these any time in Profile > Permissions.
If you'd rather not delete your account just to stop messages, turn notifications down here instead — see How do I delete my Askable account?
Why should I allow camera & mic access?
For moderated interviews via the app, you join with camera and microphone enabled so the researcher can see and hear you.
Why can't I log in to the app?
Askable runs anti-spam checks before logging you in. If you're having trouble:
Use the same email you use on my.askable.com.
Check for a VPN you may not realise is on (Phone Settings > search "VPN") — VPNs block login. See Use of VPN Connections.
Apple users: turn off iCloud Private Relay (how).
Try a different device or browser — if it works elsewhere, you likely have a VPN or ad-blocker on the original.
For the "number already in use" message specifically, see I'm trying to log in but it says my number is already in use.
How should I prepare for a video call?
Find a quiet place with minimal background noise.
Make sure you have a good internet connection.
If using Bluetooth headphones, connect them before the call.
My camera or microphone isn't working
Turn off Bluetooth (unless using Bluetooth headphones) — it can grab your audio.
Allow the Askable app camera & mic access in your phone's settings.
Test by recording a quick video — if that fails too, it's a device issue.
Do calls get recorded?
You'll be told before your call if it'll be recorded — most often it is, so your insights can be used effectively.
If I share my screen, what's recorded?
Where do I find my rewards?
In Profile > Rewards — see Where can I find my payment?
Still need a hand? Tap Help & support in the app.
