Can you market to participants after a study?

Updated today

In short: No.

Askable prohibits any post-study marketing or promotional contact with Participants based on data collected via our platform.

Why?

  • It erodes trust. Participants expect their details to be used only for research.

  • It blurs the line between research and sales, harming both participant experience and Askable’s reputation.

What’s forbidden?

  • Exporting email addresses, phone numbers or any contact details for marketing, promotional, commercial or secondary purposes.

  • Selling or sharing Participant data with third parties.

  • Offering or selling goods or services to Participants based on study data.

  • Directly soliciting, marketing to or coercing Participants during or after any Study or Project, or at any time as a result of their association with the Askable platform.

Under Section 6(a)(ii) – Prohibited Conduct of our Terms & Conditions:

“Using, exporting, transferring or otherwise processing any Participant personal data collected via the Askable platform for marketing, promotional, commercial, or secondary purposes — including, but not limited to, selling such data to third parties, offering or selling goods or services to Participants, or directly soliciting, marketing to, or coercing Participants during or after any Study or Project, or at any time as a result of their association with the Askable platform — is strictly prohibited. Askable does not support such uses. Any breach of this clause constitutes a material breach of these Terms and entitles Askable to exercise its rights under Section 12 (Termination)."
