Ask AI is Askable's natural-language query tool, powered by Research Mesh. It lets you ask questions across your research in plain English and get evidence-linked answers — complete with source quotes, clips, and confidence scoring. No more digging through transcripts manually.

Ask AI is available to AI-Enabled teams (available as an add-on for Study Tracks).

Sessions run by Askable's AI moderator are automatically processed into Ask AI. As soon as an AI-moderated session completes, the transcript flows into your queryable research library with no manual steps required. Just run your study, and Ask AI is ready to go.

Self-run moderated sessions conducted through Askable Sessions are also fully queryable. When you conduct a moderated interview through Askable Sessions, the platform records the session, generates the transcript, and processes it into Ask AI — just like AI-moderated sessions.

Once processed, Ask AI identifies speakers, surfaces relevant quotes, and summarises key insights from your human-moderated interviews the same way it does for AI-moderated interviews.

Both AI-moderated and human-moderated interview sessions go straight to processing automatically.

Unmoderated studies (task-based testing, card sorts, tree tests, etc.) are not queryable through Ask AI at this time.

AI-Enabled must be active on your team. Ask AI is part of the AI-Enabled add-on. If your team is AI-Enabled, you're good to go for both AI-moderated and human-moderated sessions.

Both. As long as your team has AI-Enabled, you can query any interview study — whether it was moderated by AI or by you through Askable Sessions. The AI processes both session types the same way: identifying speakers, extracting quotes, clustering themes, and linking everything back to source evidence.

No. As of February 2025, both AI-moderated and human-moderated interview sessions are automatically processed into Ask AI. There is no manual upload step required.

Yes. Ask AI searches across your entire database — that includes all AI-moderated studies and all human-moderated studies that have been processed. You can ask a question like "What have customers said about onboarding friction?" and get results from both session types in a single query.

Not currently. Ask AI works with interview-based studies (AI-moderated and human-moderated). Unmoderated study types like prototype tests, card sorts, and task-based tests are not queryable through Ask AI.

AI-moderated sessions are processed shortly after completion. Human-moderated sessions conducted through Askable Sessions also go straight to processing automatically. Processing time may vary depending on session length, but insights are typically available within hours rather than days.
