Send a Link is built specifically for this: your participants go straight from your link into the study itself, with no account, sign up or onboarding required.
How it works
In any Unmoderated, Survey or AI moderated studies choose ‘Send a link’ via the toggle switch in the study Recruit step in the Audience section. This will remove all settings related to Askable panel recruitment and your study will only have participants complete the study directly via the link provided.
Collect participant data
By default, Send a Link collects the results submitted and assigns a unique ID to participants. If you want more participant details, turn on Collect Participant Data in your Recruit settings to capture:
Participant identity: First name, last name, email address
Participant demographics: Location, age, gender, industry & occupation, education level, marital status, occupational status, business ownership
These are asked as questions about the participant in the study flow itself, not pulled from a participant profile, so you only get answers from people who actually take part. Fields you collect are included in your CSV export and available as filters in Results.
Security settings
Your study is accessible to anyone with the link, however under Link Settings, you can control how your link can be used:
Block VPN: stop participants from accessing your study through a VPN
Unique device required: Limit your study to one response per device
Turn these on before you share your link, they apply to how the link behaves once it's live.
Share your link
Once your study is approved and live, go to the Recruit tab to:
Copy your study link to share through your own channels; email, SMS, in-product banners, community groups
Download a QR code for your study, for anywhere a scannable code works better than a link
Regenerate your link if it's had an issue or reached people you didn't intend it for, this creates a new link and immediately deactivates the old one, so make sure you're ready to switch before you do
Test your link before sharing it. Open it in an incognito window once your study is live and confirm it lands on your study's opportunity listing.
FAQ
What information does Askable collect from my participants?
Only what you've chosen to collect, plus whatever your screener asks. By default, Send a Link collects the minimum needed to run the study.
If you turn on Collect Participant Data, participants are asked for their name and/or email, and any demographic fields you've enabled as part of the study flow itself, not a profile sign up.
Do you store data on people I invite who don't complete the study?
No, participants only appear in your participant table once they're in progress or have completed the study, not before.
How do incentives work for Send a Link studies?
There are no incentive settings for send a link studies. We recommend capturing the participant name or email to cross reference with your users and reaching out directly.
What happens if a participant is on the wrong device?
Some studies, particularly ones with recording can only be completed on certain devices or need the Askable app. If a participant opens your link on a device that doesn't match, they'll see a message explaining what's needed and how to switch.
