How do I change my Study Quota?

To change your study's quota after launch, message us on live chat with your study title and the new number. Quota changes are handled by our team and are usually quick.

Increasing your quota

Tell us how many extra spots you need. Extra spots use credits at your study's per-participant rate, and we'll confirm the cost before applying anything. If you're increasing quota because recruitment is going well and you want a bigger sample, we can also keep recruitment running to match. See I need more participants.

If your study is on the older bookings layout you may also see an editable participant number on the Settings page. If that field is available to you, editing it recalculates the credits required. When in doubt, just ask us on chat.

Decreasing your quota

Reductions are also processed by our team via live chat. Two situations look similar but follow different paths, and it's worth using the right one:

  • A specific participant was a problem (no-show, bad data): use Report issue on that participant instead. A refund through that path reduces your quota by one and returns the credits to your team balance. See Reporting issues.

  • You can't fill the spots or your plans changed: message live chat with the study title and the number of unfilled spots. Refunds are processed manually, and the credits stay in your team balance for any future study.

Why can't I edit it myself?

In the current studies experience, recruitment settings (quota, audience, screener) are locked once a study is approved, because the recruitment plan and incentives are built on them. While a study is still in review you can use Revert to draft from the header menu to edit and resubmit. See Can I add a screener question after my study is live?
