The ins and outs of the Askable app

Updated over a week ago

Why do I need to accept various permissions?

We require several permissions to allow the best functionality of the Askable app:

  1. Notifications - To send you updates and reminders on upcoming sessions

  2. Camera - So that researchers/facilitators can see you during your session

  3. Microphone - So that researchers/facilitators can hear you during your session

My camera or microphone isn't working?

Technical issues happen to the best of us, here's a few tips to resolve them on your session:

  1. Are you connected to any Bluetooth devices you might not be aware of? Turn off bluetooth to be sure.

  2. Is your internet connection fast enough to handle the video call? If you're on a mobile network try find a solid connection, if you're on wifi try moving closer to the router or conduct an internet speed test to validate your internet speed.

  3. Can you open the camera app and record a video? If not, your camera or microphone may have a device issue.

  4. Have you tried turning it off and on again? (It's simple, but it does work)

How do I see more available sessions?

Currently, you can only see scheduled sessions on the Askable app, to find more sessions jump on the website my.askable.com

I can't login?

Askable runs several anti-spam checks before logging you in, if you're having difficulty logging in check the below steps:

  1. Check if you have VPN on that you may be unaware of

    1. For most devices, you will be able to head into your Phone Settings and search for "VPN"

  2. Turn off Private Relay (For Apple Users)

    1. Check this website out - Turn iCloud Private Relay off

  3. Try a different device or browser

    1. If the Askable site works for you on a different device or browser, it is likely that you have VPN or AdBlockers on your original device/browser. With this, please follow the above steps
